| Starting at Thimble Mill, the
first lock, the attractions of this walk include Claverton Pump, Avoncliffe Aqueduct,
Devizes' 29 locks and Crofton Pumping Station. The canal winds through lovely countryside
with many villages and towns along the route, joining the River Thames at Blakes Lock,
Reading, where there is an interesting museum. Much of this canal is very rural, with
abundant birdlife, butterflies and flowers. Chat on the towpath |
